City Hall
Parking - Overnight Street Parking
[ previous screen ]

The City's parking regulations prohibit overnight parking on any street between 2:00 a.m. - 6:00 a.m. year round. Signs advising the public of this restriction are posted at major entrances to the City of Stratford. It would be impractical to post traffic signs on each street.

PARKING REGULATIONS

Every municipality has by-laws governing where vehicles may or may not be parked.  Although these rules vary from municipality to municipality, some are standard across the province.  There are too many parking regulations to sign on every street for every situation, and most are common sense restrictions.  They are enforced:

  • To enhance public safety of pedestrians, cyclists and motorists, while ensuring there is available parking for residents and visitors
  • To ensure the safe flow of traffic, emergency vehicles and snowplows on our streets
  • To encourage residents to provide off-street parking for the number of vehicles they own
  • To reduce the number of vehicles parked on the road which can contribute to fail to remain collisions
  • To allow for road maintenance activities including snow removal, sanding/salting, street cleaning, road repairs, etc.
  • To facilitate the curbside collection of residential garbage and recyclables
Additional traffic and parking topic details are available from the Parking section of this website, including Traffic and Parking By-law 159-2008.  If you have any questions, please call 519-271-0250 ext. 237 during regular business hours.
