 Description  Ontario Works:
  • To administer the Ontario Works Act, in accordance to Legislation Guidelines by the Ministry of Community, Family & Children’s Services, and Policies set by Municipal Liaison Committee and City Council.
  • To provide financial and employment assistance for persons who are in financial need in The City of Stratford, The Separated Town of St. Marys, and The County of Perth.

Child Care:
  • To provide subsidized child care for parents who are persons in need as defined in the Day Nurseries Act.
  • To administer and monitor the Ministry of Community, Family & Children’s Services’ allocated dollars for wage subsidy, special needs resourcing and resource centres to Day Care Centres and Nursery Schools within Perth County.

Anne Hathaway Day Care Centre:
    Municipally operated Day Care Centre.
  • To provide quality Child Care age 18 months to 5 years. Special emphasis is placed on curriculum such as the Second Step program and Jolly Phonics.
  • A component at Anne Hathaway is to provide resource consultant services to special needs children, families and Day Nurseries throughout Perth County.

Public Housing:
  • To provide rent geared to income housing for lower income families and senior citizens, handicapped persons, and single individuals, in The City of Stratford, The Separated Town of St. Marys, and the County of Perth.
  • The housing division has 663 of their own public housing units as well as 125 subsidized units in privately owned buildings under the rent supplement program.

Social Housing:
  • To administer the Social Housing Reform Act, in accordance to the Legislation Guidelines by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, and Policies set by Municipal Liaison Committee and City Council.
  • To administer and monitor the allocated dollars to the non-profit and co-operative housing providers.
