The Stratford Police Service is staffed by 56 sworn police officers and 18 full time and 2 part time civilians who provide 24-hour/day
service to the public; responding to emergency and non-emergency calls for service. The police service provides
adequate and effective policing through crime prevention, law enforcement, assistance to victims of crime,
public order maintenance and emergency response. This is accomplished in part through preventative patrols
(cruiser, foot, and bicycle), throughout our community to both residential areas and business locations.
The Community Services unit of the Stratford Police Service provides innovative programs that target all members
of our community from youths to senior citizens. These programs are delivered through public meetings,
organizations and the school system. The programs are designed to provide the public with knowledge to reduce
the likelihood of becoming a victim of crime or committing a crime.
Through the dedication of all members of the Stratford Police Service, Stratford has achieved an insurance crime
rating classified as a “ Town Grade 3”, reflecting the lowest crime rates available within the Province of
Ontario, making Stratford a community where parents can allow their children to walk to school or play,
without fear for their safety.
