Follow these few simple steps and you can safely dispose of HHW's around the house.

  1. Take a few minutes to go through your kitchen cabinets, basement and garage. Remove all unwanted pesticides, cleaners, full or partial aerosols, oils, batteries, paints, compact florescent bulbs and tubes, solvents and other household chemicals.
  2. Make sure these products are tightly sealed and in their original containers. NEVER mix any of these materials together.
  3. Place them in the trunk of your vehicle and drive to the HHW depot at the landfill site on Romeo Street south (across from the Municipal golf course).
  4. At the HHW depot, there will be trained professionals who will receive, package, transport and store the materials safely and in compliance with all regulations.
No PCBs, commercial, infectious or radioactive wastes will be accepted. Only City of Stratford residents will be permitted to drop off Household Hazardous Wastes at the landfill on the designated days.

Waste oil and oil filters from a residential source are accepted at the Public Works Yard throughout the year. Please call 519-271-0820.
