The top two sectors of Stratford's growing economy are manufacturing and tourism - a unique combination
that works well. Industries such as Honeywell Consumer Products Group (Fram), Dyna-Mig, Novatronics, F.A.G.
Bearings Ltd., Stratford Plastic Components and Springs Canada have chosen to call Stratford ‘home’. These international companies rely on Stratford’s labour to produce a variety of quality
products including automotive parts, aerospace components, precision bearings, industrial machinery, and carpets.
Stratford is the envy of many communities. Stratford’s unemployment rate is a reflection of our vibrant and
thriving economy. In 2000, the local unemployment rate continued to be less than or equal to both national
and provincial unemployment levels. A 6.0% unemployment rate is a healthy rate because it provides industry
with a pool of qualified employees without having a large proportion of the labour force out of work. Based
on the strength of the local manufacturing base and the tourism sector, Stratford is considered one of the
“economic hot spots” in Canada.
