The City of Stratford Among the Best in the World! June 2011
On Friday June 3, 2011,The Intelligent Community Forum awarded the Intelligent Community of the World to Eindhoven, Netherlands. Stratford is proud and honoured to have made it to the Top 7 on the planet and congratulates Eindhoven on being named the 2011 Top Intelligent Community.

The City of Stratford hosted the third annual conference at the Stratford Rotary Complex.

This wall honours and perpetuates the names and deeds of those individuals whose athletic abilities have brought fame to themselves and the City of Stratford and of those individuals whose interest in and work for sport has resulted in a climate which benefited athletes and athletics.

Stratford Named Top 7 Smart City January, 2011
The City of Stratford was one of seven municipalities on this planet that was awarded the coveted position of being a 2011 Top 7 Community by the Intelligent Communities Forum.
Stratford now advances to the final round of the competition which will announce the Intelligent Community of 2011 at the Broadband Economy event in New York City on June 3, 2011.

The City of Stratford is pleased to annouce that the Stratford Tourism Alliance has won the 2009 Award for Culinary Experience of the Year by the Ontario Culinary Tourism Alliance.

The Intelligent Community Forum announced that Stratford made the Top 21 for 2011. We competed with over 300 global applicants and are one of four Canadian cities to succeed.

Tim Hortons Hockey Day in Canada 2010
Tim Hortons Hockey Day in Canada 2010, January 26 - 30, marked an important event not only for our community, but across this country, as Stratford hosted CBC for Tim Hortons Hockey Day in Canada. Children, young and old, families, residents and visitors to our community came out by the thousands to share our love for the game of hockey and their desire to be part of history.

Olympic Torch Relay December 27, 2009
The Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay travelled through Stratford region ( Day 59 - London to Kitchener, ON ) on December 27th, 2009. An extended family of red and white supporters were there to greet Olympian Julia Wilkinson as she carried the torch on the final 300-metre leg into Market Square.

Stratford was named Canada’s Best Blooming Community in 2008
In a national competition by Communities in Bloom, in which hundreds of towns and cities competed, Stratford was selected as the overall national champion for its gardens and community involvement in beautification, environmental awareness and heritage conservation.
Stratford also won the Communities in Bloom International Challenge competing against communities of its size in America, Britain, Japan and Ireland.
